NF1 Pediatric Project

Children and teens with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) can struggle with everyday independence; learning difficulties affect approximately 50-60% of people with NF1. Challenges with planning, movement, and sensory processing can make daily routines and participation at home, school, and play harder.

Led by Gaurish Agrawal and Jacqueline ChuangIn association with the NF1 Center at WashU Medicine/St. Louis Children's Hospital and Beyond Boundaries Program (capstone)

The solution

We are exploring several concepts. A device that guides children through routines one step at a time; a portable gait assessment kit for clinic visits; and an iPad game for practicing everyday life skills. Our goal is to develop practical, affordable tool that support independence and reflect the needs of children, families, and clinicians.
